How to start an IPTV subscription (beginner guide)
To start an IPTV subscription you need three things: a stable internet connection (about 10 Mbps per HD screen), a device such as a Fire TV Stick or Smart TV, and a subscription from a provider like Smartiflix IPTV. You install a player app, enter the login the provider emails you, and your channels appear. A free trial lets you test it first.
What an IPTV subscription actually is
IPTV delivers TV channels over the internet instead of a cable or satellite dish. Your subscription gives you a personal login. You enter it into a player app, and the app shows live channels, a TV guide, and a library of movies and series, just like a cable menu. Want the longer explanation? Read what is IPTV.

Start your IPTV subscription in 5 steps
Check your internet speed
Run a speed test on the device you will watch on. 10 Mbps per HD screen is enough; 25 Mbps for 4K.
Choose your device
A Fire TV Stick, a Smart TV, an Android box, a phone or a computer. You probably own one already.
Try before you pay
Request the Smartiflix free trial to test your channels on your own connection.
Pick a plan
Start with 1 month if you are unsure, or save with 12 months. Add devices if more than one TV will play at once.
Install a player and log in
Follow the steps for your device in our install guide. It takes about 15 minutes.
Which plan should a beginner choose?
If you have never used IPTV, take the free trial, then the 1-month plan. Once you know it works for your home, the 12-month plan costs $6.67 a month instead of $14.99. Count how many TVs will play at the same time; that is your number of devices.
Beginner mistakes to avoid
- Paying for a year with an unknown seller. Always test first with a free trial or a single month.
- Weak Wi-Fi. Most "IPTV problems" are actually Wi-Fi problems. Use a cable or 5 GHz.
- Too few devices. If two people watch at once on a 1-device plan, one stream stops.
- Ignoring the welcome email. It has the exact steps for your device.
